August 2009

All FC&MCC Members,

Great Show! That is what I am hearing. We raised $2500 for needy families. We had 126 cars and several members had cars in their special show and some members cars were only on display. I had a lot of praise and thanks for a great show. Gary Sullivan did a great job announcing the sponsors and trophies. Ron had to leave to get to his show but he did another wonderful job, and kept the show moving along. I walked through the parking lot and the speakers were located where everyone could hear them but yet they weren’t too loud.

We had several car clubs turnout to our Show. There was a VW club from Richmond (which is having a show this Saturday, Aug 22), Stafford Classic Car Club (most members 40), VW cruisers from Culpeper, Karb Kings, and I hope I did not forget anyone. We even had people join our club and that was exciting.

It was very emotional for me as most of you know Pop just found out on Friday that his cancer has spread to his brain and he will have to undergo radiation treatments. He was named the Club Member of the Year, and since I was not able to say what I had planned, I just want everyone to know that Pop & Scott Kitts started this cruise-in at VABBQ and Pop has only missed a couple of Friday nights in 7 years.

The Scott Kitts Memorial award was presented by Scott’s son Branden, to Ernest & Merrill, they were very close to the Kitts family. A very great time I had in surprising them with the awards. Paul & Evelyn are very active in our club and are very generous with their time, and they got the most sponsors for our trophies this year. They are always at the cruise-in and are always ready if we need something special done for the club. So a big thanks to Pop, Ernest & Merrill, and Paul & Evelyn.

I am not forgetting some of the other members that have worked hard for this club I will name some. Kim & Rick which are always a huge help at the cruise and show, Wesley (Wild Man) has been another one of our fine members. We can count on Ron being at our cruise every Friday night and always on time and sometimes arrives before we get there. These are just a few members that have kept the club going strong and we really want to thank them. Lots of love with these members they love to give back to the community. Leslie does a great job for the Web site that is a big help to our club. Toney & Gary did a great job helping out at the show thanks. Carmen WOW what a chinese auction. Good job!

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 8th at College Heights Pizza Hut.

Regards,
Sue
